and cons of having a computer custom-built, as opposed to buying one.

Buying a locally built computer might cost a little more, Man. The big
builders have computer construction down to a science. They also can
buy parts cheaply. They purchase them by the trainload, rather than a
dozen at a time.

However, you'll probably do better locally if you need service. It's
hard to beat having someone to talk to face-to-face. Furthermore, you
won't have to worry about communicating with a foreigner. And if you
cannot resolve your issue, it's much easier to get to the owner.
