Taskbar & Windows On Your Computer
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE TASKBAR
The taskbar is located on your desktop, the opening screen after
Windows has booted up. The taskbar is usually located at the bottom
of the screen. It includes the Start button.
The taskbar's usual location is strictly a matter of convention.
You can move it to either side of the desktop, or to the top. Put
the cursor on it, depress the left mouse key, and drag it. If it won't
move, it is probably locked. Right-click the taskbar. If "Lock the
Taskbar" is checked, click it.
There are other settings, too. For instance, you can keep it visible
when other windows are open. That way you have immediate access to
everything that is open. Those documents are visible in the
taskbar. To keep the taskbar available, right-click it and click
Properties. Check "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows."
You also can make the taskbar disappear. Again, right-click it and
click Properties. Select "Auto-hide the taskbar." When your cursor is
not on the taskbar, it will slide off the screen. To make it reappear,
go to the desktop and move the cursor as far to the edge as it will go.
Once you optimize the taskbar, lock it. To do that, right-click it
and select Properties. Click "Lock the taskbar."
